We at HEM Ashram have been providing computer education to our kids since our inception in 2008 but over the years our PCs shelf lives got over and we were unable to teach computers to our children. Last year one good samaritan gifted us 4 computers so we started to teach computers again. But obviously 4 computers weren’t enough for 238 students at our school. We were looking for more computers and partners when Dr. Aniruddha Malpani in association with Selligion ( www.selligion.com ) came forward and gifted us 10 PCs.
Apni Pathshala is a Public-Private Partnership approach in which they collaborate with NGOs and individuals to establish community-based computer learning centers in order to design customized solutions that are appropriate for their community. HEM Ashram has collaborated with Apni Pathshala and Selligion Praho to digitally empower HEM Ashram students.
Selligion Praho, India’s first native hybrid cloud computer has given us 10 computers that are pre-loaded with free, high-quality information linked to the curriculum, which is available in English and a variety of local languages. The primary purpose of this cooperation is to construct community-based learning centers known as “Learning Pos” to offer HEM children with access to high-quality digital education.
Dr. Aniruddha Malpani is a pioneering medical professional, a celebrated early stage venture capitalist and a full time crusader, championing the cause of delivering effective, innovative and modern education and skills to children across India has sponsored our Pod.
Selligion has supplied 10 PCs with keyboards, mice, displays, speakers/headphones, and webcams.
The PCs are used for 3 purposes – flipped classroom teaching, doubt solving, and exam preparation, so that students will score higher marks. We are hopeful this will be an easy way of tracking tangible learning outcomes.
In our computer classes, there are teachers who teach our students but in our classes, we encourage peer-to-peer learning. In every group, there are some bright kids, who are natural teachers, and do a far better job than regular school teachers, because they are much more patient and empathetic when teaching their friends, they teach their peers. Kids aren’t restricted to studying only what’s in the curriculum and are free to explore their additional interests. While it’s true that most kids will not bother, some will inspire others to learn music, or pick up a game like chess or Sudoku, while some will improve the way they play cricket by watching matches on YouTube!
Now With access to PC and online resources, our teachers are also able to update their teaching techniques, learn new technologies, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and practices in education. This, in turn, will obviously help them provide better-quality education to their students in the long run.
